Born in Dakar, of Peule (fulani) origin, Kara left his country to go to Europe, acting as an ambassador for african dance and singer peule culture.
Kara started to dance when he was a young child. Adolescent, he knew that dance would be the main drive in his life. He starts his career as dancer and musician with the ballet « Rythmes Africains » where he receives an artist’s diploma from the Ministry of Culture of Senegal for his participation in the « Festival de musique de la Petite Côte » in M’Bour, Senegal.
He then joins the Ballet « Unité Africaine » with which he will tour in Europe and in Japan (Osaka), before settling in Switzerland where he forms the band « Keur Sénégal » with some childhood friends from diverse Western African cultural backgrounds . The band is well known in Geneva especially since their success on the scene Ella Filzerald and the release of their album « Salya ».
In parallel to his concerts, Kara also gives regular african dance classes in Geneva, at times collaborating with the Ateliers d’Ethnomusicologie. He also teaches in workshops in other cities of Switzerland and Europe.
Kara is increasingly inspired by more personal lyrics and compositions, stimulated by a desire to create his own music.
He has the opportunity to participate in a compilation with Jackie Lagger and Pascal Rinaldi, in favour of the association « Foot du cœur » sponsored by Youssou N’Dour and Jean-Marc Richard (TSR, Télévision Suisse Romande).
For Kara, music is an art of living, a way to tell stories and feelings.After having gone on several tours in Europe, in the U.S.A. and Japan with several Ballets, he released his first CD in 2003 as guitarist and singer. In 2005 he released his second album "Ndi Yam", confirming his enormous musical talent.
