The Atra born in the summer of 2006 following the meeting between Damiano Guarnieri (vocals and guitar), Raffaelel Lorenzetti (bass) and Patrizio Frapolli (drums). The Atra born in the summer of 2006 following the meeting between Damiano Guarnieri (vocals and guitar), Raffaelel Lorenzetti (bass) and Patrizio Frapolli (drums). In the beginning, the band decides to play the classic Hard Rock and Heavy Metal cover songs of groups that have written the history of rock music, like Iron Maiden and Helloween.

In late November 2006, the group performs for the first time. The following months they bring more and more songs in the line-up, always all arranged for solo guitar, but this creates a power loss in the performance of live tracks. Increasingly, during live performances, the band is supported by Simone Voumard as second guitarist and special guests until at the end of 2007 he joined officially the group. The entry of Simon in the band brings a new wave of power, precision and enthusiasm within the group and so the line-up witch is getting always more longer, begin to appear also their first compositions, the band is always centered on the cover of Loved most classic and historical world of rock / metal.

The 2008 is a special year. A project keeps the Atra busy for most of the year. A tribute to the Swiss rockers, Gotthard, at an event to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of a famous choir of the Italian Swiss community. In addition the Atra, other local bands participate at the event, even some members of the Gotthard themselves. At the end of 2008 the willingness of Atra radically changes, start a new project with a new goal: abandon the cover of other bands to concentrate on composition of their songs. This is however hampered by the abandonment of the band by Simone for study, so the group is still looking for a new guitarist.

The current groups line-up has been completed in May 2009 by Patrick Mafferetti, new entry of the band, which takes the role of lead guitar and a significantly rise of the technical level and composition of the band. The group is finally and definitively complete. With the new entry of Patrick in the Atra, the band composed several songs that are detected over time, rather popular by the local supporters. In autumn 2009, the Atra take part in different concerts, but especially settle the details of the new songs.

In January 2010, the group recorded in their recording studio, the first demo, entitled "On The Other Side", mixed and mastered by Giancarlo Licci (Amphitrium) and self-produced, with the aim of making known themselves in their own canton. The last recent satisfaction is the transmission of the title song on local radio On The Other Side of the presence, in May, at the Palco ai Giovani Festival 2010, in Piazza Manzoni, Lugano, playing in front of three thousand people.
