Counteract is an English-speaking hip hop band from Switzerland (Lausanne) with multiple and varied influences such as funk music, jazz, electronic and even more widely influenced by mod- ern and traditional music from around the world. Created 2006, the band has since been work- ing on the elaboration of a new album entitled Broca’s Area coming out 18 June 2011.
The band has four members that have shared both common and individual experience on stage for several years in Switzerland and abroad.

Members of the band

BFG (lead, MC) : Henrik Osterlof, 27, Sweden.
Ex-member of Stronger With You, BFG aka Big Friendly Giant has experienced numerous concerts since 2001 here and abroad. English-speaking rapper and singer, from Sweden and born in the Philippines, BFG is one of the two lead voices and lyricist of Counteract.

The Squid (lead, MC) : Aliocha Salagnac, 28, Switzerland/Greece
The other lyricist of the band, The Squid, is also English-speaking, with mediterranean origins and fam- ily in the U.S. Also ex-member of Stronger With You and the sound system called Bass 4 unity, The Squid has been running on different stages, from hip hop to electronic music, from reggae to drum and bass for several years now.

Grand Papa Tra (producer) : Sébastien Fawer, 33, Switzerland
His album Rules of Attraction came out (2008) lately. Therefore, the songwriter and beatmaker Grand Papa Tra is also a producer and sound engineer. He has been working with both local and international artists, bringing together original creations from worldwide cultures.

DJ Ryf (DJ) : Mathieu Ferry, 27, Switzerland/France
Accomplished DJ and Scratcher, with long stage experience, DJ Ryf is currently on Tour with different artists from local and international level. He has been working for numerous albums and mixtapes for several years.
