Monsieur Cortez is actually a member of the old timers crew djs of Switzerland.
Busy behind the decks for more than 20 years, he’s actually in good position in the french & Swiss charts with his last single « Holiday » featuring New-York singer Corey Andrew.
When he was a child, Jean-Michel (his real name) studied classical piano for 8 years at Lausanne’s Conservatory. Then in 2008, he decided to jump a big step and having more involvment in composition and music production.
He will soon publish his first productions through « Music guide publishing », a Zurich based indépendant company.
His first releases will be: « Make a break in your life » for dj Chris Evans, guiness recordman of the longest dj set ever, then « Party in Zurich » which will stay for 3 months in the Swiss Dj chart in 2011, then « Partyline Revenge » Under the électro alias John Blackstorm on Phuture Rhythm Records, and of course « Holiday », released on Pino Music records, without forgetting some chillout sounds Under the alias « AGARTHA ».
His main inspiration comes from disco and funk music from the 70’s and early 80’s, a kind of music he spent long hours listening on radio when he was a child. Then, funk music became house, and then in the 90’s house music declined to became a multitude of different styles of electronic music. When other djs tended to specialize themselves in a particular style, Jean prefered to take the best of all styles and mix a little bit of the best of everything with the best of every other things. Why limit yourself when there’s so much good music everywhere ?
For him, a dj is similar to a chief cook. A good chief always propose a full menu starting with some tapas, one or two entries, a good pièce of meal, a choice of desserts followed by coffee and spirits. Translate all that in music and you’ll obtain a full party night that will please the ears of the best connoiseur.
As a pure vinyl junkie, he discovered the first Pioneer CDJ500 in 1994 and adopted soon CDs as a tool to remix everything live, making live mash-ups of mainstream sounds over underground sounds, playing from now on 4 decks (2cds and 2 vinyls) for a seduced and partying crowd.
Actually, he ‘s still playing 2 or 3 times a week in différents clubs of Switzerland and in private parties around this area or further.

Bonjour M. Cortez!
Jolies prod!
