Alba Valéria Gähler aka «EEVal» (known as ShortEE in the past) started to pursue her talent at an early age: She wanted to sing along with every song she heard on TV, before she could even speak. As she learned how to walk, it didn’t take too long for her to have the fastest samba feet and the most flexible hips of the whole family.
1986 the little live wire, who is today 34 years old came to Switzerland. At that time she only knew three Swiss German words. Her passion to singing and dancing was getting stronger each day. Her inspiring example was Whitney Houston. To really be able to sing her songs correctly and understand the words, she taught herself English. In fact, Alba Valéria Gähler wanted to become a professional jazz dancer, just like her mother. She started to sing out loud in her bedroom and put together choreographies to songs of New Kids On The Block and Paula Abdul. She raped to songs of LL Cool J, danced and prayed to songs from MC Hammer.
Until august 2010 her artist name was ShortEE. «SHORT» for her height as well as for her nick name Shorty, and «EE» for the double energy she’s got and with which she infects the people around her.
But the singer ShortEE has grown; she’s mature and has developed herself personally and also as a musician. That’s why she needed a new name; EEVal! She kept the «EE» for the energy that still keeps her going in whatever she does and Val is the short form for her second name, Valéria.
1998 – 2001 EEVal performed as singer and dancer of the show group K-Dance Academy Baden all over Switzerland in various public as well as private events. One of their shows even took place in Gran Canary.
2001 She participated in the very first Pop Stars casting in Zurich. She was the first candidate (No. 5, her lucky number) that could convince the jury with her strong soul voice. Unfortunately she only made it until the second round as she didn’t fit into the wanted pop star format. Shortly afterwards, EEVal had her first solo performance in Germany with a song she wrote herself on Warren G’s cover “What’s love go to do with it” from Tina Turner.
2002 - 2005 EEVal formed the performance crew Naissance together with two of her girl friends. They combined dancing, singing and acting with covered and own songs in one show. As singer and dancer of Naissance various performances followed all over Switzerland. Highlight for the crew was being the support act of stars like, Mario Winans, Ginuwine and Eric Sermon
As Naissance broke up because of different reasons, she started to concentrate on her singing carrier only. EEVal’s now second solo performance was as support act of Nega, together with the hip hop crew from Zug, Young Dynasty, at Schüür in Lucerne.
In April 2005 her demo song „Boy Meets Girl“ convinced the jury of M4Music. With this title she won (by then still as ShortEE) the Adcom Award of Demotape Clinic at the M4Music Festival 2005 for the «urban» category, as well as a voucher for the cd pressing at Adcom Production AG in the amount of CHF 2’500.
2006 EEVal achieved the dream of an own cd. March 2006, she released as ShortEE her EP „The First Step“ in a CD release party at the K5 Club in Zurich. After that she had various private and public gigs.
2007 – 2009 She has been asked by NazB to work on a featuring with him. A successful video clip has been made to the recorded song „Around the world“ by NazB feat. Sergio & ShortEE. After the release of NazB’s single, EEVal performed that song with the rapper NazB on different events, for example as support act of Naughty by Nature at Garden Club, Winterthur.
The singer kept on working on her music, wrote new songs and recorded a demo cd. From then on she was inactive for a while because of personal as well as for health reasons.
2010 EEVal recorded her new single “I’m sorry” to which she has made a music video in November to her own written script with the director Tascha B. The male part on the video to her ballad is played by the current Vice Mister Switzerland, Stefan Tobler. The song as well as the video are a dedication to a loved person who she’ve lost by a tragic car accident in the year 2000. A dance-remix and an acoustic version of the song will be on the single in addition to the original.
2011 After the new artist name EEVal, a new website, www.eevalworld.com, is online. On February 24th 2011, ShortEE has successfully celebrated her comeback as EEVal with the release of her single and music video at Club Mascotte in Zurich! The single “I’m sorry” with its three different versions is now available on Itunes, cede.ch, exlibris.ch etc.
