Kenobi was about five years old when he came in touch with music and vinyl for the first time. At this moment it was the record collection of his father, who liked a wide range of music.
Over the next 10 years Kenobi was interested in a lot of music and back in 1993 at 14 years of age he discovered his interests in breakbeat and jungle music for the first time. At this time Kenobi was more into Abstract Hip-Hop and Trip Hop. This was the point of no return; he started to collect more and more Jungle/D&B tunes (as well as Abstract Beats) and started to build up a studio at the age of 16.
Later, Kenobi came in touch with other DJ's in Biel, but as a young DJ it wasn’t very easy to earn respect from the older "popular" artists, especially because he was mixing eclectic styles.
In 2000 he joined the freshly founded Protone Crew alongside DJ Tintin as second member. Until 2002, the Protone Crew consisted of four DJ members, a guest MC and a guest singer. Protone was musically and in terms of organization very open minded, so every artist was doing what he wanted to do as his own boss.
It was also in 2000, when Kenobi won a DJ Contest called “Drehmeister” organized by Bewegungsmelder, a scene magazine in Switzerland.
In early 2002, Kenobi decided to join the drumandbass.ch network to concentrate only on drum & bass and to work Swiss wide with musically kindred spirits. Until now, Kenobi has been djing under the “label” drumandbass.ch and will be collaborating with other Swiss artists to create some events for the present and the future.
“After 15 years of djing, parties all over and playing Radio broadcasts, it’s now time to invest my energy and concentrate on my own productions and to be creative in the studio”, adds Kenobi.
Since 2001 his productions represent his musical progress – very open minded Drum & Bass.
Still inspired by a lot of styles, he’s also in collaborations with other artists in the music scene, mainly in his hometown Biel. From Hip- Hop instrumentals to diverse Remixes, the whole spectrum of music.
In 2011 Kenobi reached the Finals (Top10) of Demotape Clinic (M4Music) in Switzerland with one of his Songs (Boracay) and earned some recognition all over the scene.
Kenobi’s sets are described as deep, minimal and rolling and his Mix Series “Liqwicked” are well known and appeal to listeners worldwide.
