Into thin air:
L'ascenseur produces beats, atmospheres and songs (sometimes) from the tower of an old textile factory near Zurich, Switzerland.
Raised in Canada, he blames the eclectic record collection of his best friend's older brother for his early obsession (age seven) with all things percussive, but it was the R2-D2-like noises he discovered in the circuitry of his first (and last) transistor radio that had a major influence on his sound.
Today, the self-described ‘intuitive’ musician – who is “seriously addicted to altitude” – messes about with drums, guitars, analogue machines, his voice and a laptop to create a leftfield version of the songs in his head. When he’s not in the mountains, he can be found DJing at (very) private parties in and around Switzerland
