We love blues, jug band and vaudeville music from the 20's and 30's and play the classics as well as lesser known songs, but we obviously don't sound like a band from those early years.
One reason being the role the flugabone plays in the trio, backing up the guitar and washboard with it's baritone textures.
Another is our growing up between the sixties and seventies, all the more since we don't share that many influences from those years: funk, punk, rock and jazz, not to mention many things in between as well as more "exotic" musical worlds are part of us too.
In any case Messin' Round performs in both acoustic and amplified venues and has been playing in the Swiss Jura mountains since 2005
The Band:
David Ferrington: Guitar, lead vocals
Born in Lancaster, England, Dave became interested in the Blues and African music in the seventies which led him to study different techniques related to these styles of music.
He performs with a «National 0» Slide from 1937 and his Gibson acoustic 01 1937.
Bill Holden: Flugabone, vocals
Born in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Bill quickly marched with the band and many a R'n'B and soul combo. In the seventies, 3 years spent in Morocco taught him how to cook a tajine as well as sing in Arabic.
Steve Litsios: washboard, percussion, vocals
Born in Arlington, MA, Steve developed a passion for the Blues one sunny afternoon in the seventies after hearing a Bukka White song.
He performs with a Zinc King Lingerie Washboard 703, a spiral crimp profiled Columbus Washboard and his trusted Herkules Extra Stark.
