Sanshiro, talented songwriter and singer from Lausanne (Switzerland) comes back with a second album called : « Chansons pour l’univers » (« songs for the universe »).
A collection composed of fourteen marvellous stories popping straight out of his baffled imaginary and that cater to everyone in the family.
After his successful first album « Chansons pour qui ? » (« songs for whom? »), released in 2004 in Switzerland, in 2005 in Belgium, in Luxemburg and in South Korea and followed by many concerts, Sanshiro is now back with his new album. It should open the way for the French speaking countries as well as Japan, where his mother comes from.
« Chansons pour l’univers » is a trip through all kind of atmospheres and regions where animals, imagined characters, fairy tales, comical situations, social tragedies, etc. are rubbing along together. Sanshiro turns in a personal way daily routine moments into funny and magical instants where the dream is meaningful.
Whereas some songs deal with light topics (le photographe, net, shitsumon, les p’tits voyous, etc.), some other tackle social issues that concern children as well adults. He talks with delicacy about the tough topic of domestic violence in the song étincelles. He worries about the children’s loss of the desire for playing in: : le jeu c’est quoi ? or nos p’tites idées. Louis relates in poetic way the story of a little boy, becoming a teenager and then a grown-up. Sanshiro brings some fresh air into the songs for kids thanks to his faculty of using words that affect the children as much as their parents, although carefully avoiding too simplistic or stupefying formulations. His music is definitely modern and underlines the diverse atmospheres constructing the universe of this new album.
« Chansons pour l’univers » is the logical continuation of his first album « Chansons pour qui ? ». There’s a continuity in his out of phase and playful way of approaching topics he likes, while keeping a freshness and an educational aspect without appearing too didactic.
To record these new songs, Sanshiro was surrounded by several musicians as well as many children that are singing along with him on the fourteen tracks of « Chansons pour l’univers ». This album has been entirely composed, produced, arranged and recorded in Lausanne (Switzerland), in Sanshiro’s the studio named « de l’autre côté de la Terre » (« on the other side of Earth »). The mix has been done in Lausanne (Switzerland) by Mark Angelil (Stress, Dustyboys, etc.) and then masterized by Renée Marc-Aurèle in the SNB studio in Montreal (Canada) (Star Academy, Roch Voisine, Nolwenn Leroy, etc.). The drawings illustrating the songs on the thirty-two paged booklet have been done by Rachel Bloch, an artist from Fribourg (Switzerland). The logo (front page of the booklet) has been imagined and drawn by Maxim Fontannaz from Lausanne (Switzerland) and the pictures taken by David Gagnebin-de Bons.
On stage, Sanshiro is accompanied by his faithful and inseparable band « Les Cônes de Chantier » (« the cones of the building site ») that enables a theatrical and mischievous interpretation of the songs. Sanshiro’s performances are interactive: the kids and the parents are getting involved. Cheerful ambiance and mood are guaranteed, everyone goes out of this slightly odd universe in wonder and with a smiley face.
