The two chaps met in 1988 during their 3rd year of secondary school. Lasse, who had just joined the class, soon introduced Olaf to his big maxi single collection of Depeche Mode and consequently became acquainted with his future music-partner. Their common musical career began after with the foundation of a school-band. Together, with a guitarist, a drummer and pianist they played songs from Pink Floyd and compositions by the guitarist.

After leaving secondary school the band split up. The two friends, however, decided to continue their work together and Silent Work was born. The name of the team wasn`t actually chosen by chance: While Olaf was sitting alone in a quiet little room wearing headphones and experimenting with sounds, rhythms, melodies and arrangements, Lasse worked intensively on building up the studio.
During all these years they acquired an abundance of experience and refined their style. The incentive for perfection forced them to continue improving their music.
