SISTERS KEEPERS
Who are we?
In Autumn 2001 numerous afro-german artist joint forces to drop musical statement against rassism and violence. With their songs “Sisters” and “Liebe und Verstand” (both released on the Brothers Keepers Album “Lightkultur”) they took a firm stand against rassism and violence. Sisters re-united and formed the union “Sisters e.V.” (Sisters Union), since in many social scopes women – no matter what “colour or race” – are still confronted with either positive or negative discrimination. Sisters organise and carry out there activities within the incorporated assossiation “Sisters e.V.” Members of the steering committee are Onejiru (Chair) and Mamadee (Vize-Chair).
In the past the Sisters were involved in many special ocassions. They organised in cooperation with the Federal and Regional Center for Political Education school tours in Hamburg under the title “Afogerman – Aliens in their own Country”. They shared there experiences with many children from differents schools. They were also engaged at benefiz concerts inter alia against right-wing extremism and (gender-) violence and also at panel discussions (i.e. with Aktion Mensch). They also ran hiphop-, singing and music workshops in Italy in cooperation with the Goethe Institute.
The Sisters are currently working on their debut album. The projects executive producer is Matthias Arfmann (Jan Delay, Onejiru, Patrice and Absolute Beginner).
