Slither is Tommy Bargähr (Drums), Marc Egli (Guitar), Niall McLauchlan (Vocals), Pascal Scherrer (Guitar) & Dave Sciamanna (Bass). The band was born in Grisons, Switzerland in 2005 but its members trace their roots back to Ireland, Italy, Costa Rica & Scotland, making it an international affair.
Slither’s sound is an earthy, guitar driven, “no holds barred” approach to Rock´n´Roll and can be filed under Alternative Rock. Taking inspiration from the Grunge scene in the early 90’s as well as Stadium Rock of the 70’s and 80’s, the band has been described as a “Behemoth of Sound” and constantly continues to develop its music. Their lyrics are a mirror of humanity and voice social concerns without ever being political.
With over 30 live performances, including support slots for Maeder (AUS), Adam Bomb (USA) and Shakra (CH), Slither’s intense shows hit hard and focus on quality rather than gimmicks. “I want people to leave our show feeling like rockstars…as if they had been onstage” says singer Niall McLauchlan. Their very first live performance earned them 3rd place at the Phondue Band Contest in Olten, Switzerland. In 2008 after a “Park Live” show in Chur, Switzerland, music critic Cornelius Räber of Bündner Tagblatt newspaper wrote: “Slither’s performance was full of energy and emotion. They were compact and precise. Their performance livened up the evening’s atmosphere. A little bit of Rock´n´Roll…”* In 2006 and 2008 respectively, the band recorded 2 demos as a four piece band.
In 2010, the band embarked on a new direction when Marc Egli decided to hang up his bass in exchange for a spot in the guitar limelight alongside Pascal Scherrer. In the summer of 2010, Dave Sciamanna (long time friend and member of local rock giants “Tytestone”) took over bass duties for the band, resulting in an explosion of creativity and freedom from the musical constrictions of a four piece. In October 2010, Slither went to Rino Records Studios (Buchs, Switzerland) to record their new EP “Blush”. Out now!
