Biography

Originally formed in Bangkok (Thailand) in 2003, Teenage Prostitute started out as a four-piece band. ***

Not happy with others being merely involved, but rather looking for the type of insane commitment that he is known for, bandleader and songwriter Patrice decided to go solo. A number of negative reactions to the band name made up his mind to keep it. ***

Even before it had been officially released, Teenage Prostitute's debut single "Staring At The Rain" was picked up by legendary Thai DJ Suharit Siamwalla for his show on Thailand's indie/underground station Fat Radio. ***

Shortly after, the pioneers behind Thai cult label Panda Records (Bangkok) asked for permission to include the song on their compilation CD "Here Come The Pandas". *** After a few rather intense years, earning high acclaim for his live drumming with

Mister TeenPro decided to take a break and return to Switzerland for a while. He is currently writing and recording new material. *** Longing for the warmth of analogue, energy is partially allocated to moving away from creating digital recordings exclusively. Whenever Zurich negatively influences the attention span, Teenage Prostitute escapes to a tiny mountain village in the Eastern part of the country, inhaling nothing but the most potent intoxicant: the scent of pine cones. ***

Listeners and fans agree that Teenage Prostitute cannot deny decades of sonic exposure to The Cure, Joy Division, Placebo, Siouxsie & The Banshees, as well as countless other New Wave and 1980s acts. Claims that inspiration also comes from the likes of Frank Zappa, Iron Maiden, John Zorn, Terry Bozzio, Anton Webern, and Tony Williams (to name but a few), has not convinced them otherwise. ***

Physical separation from his spiritual home Bangkok has made Teenage Prostitute write darker harmonies, darker melodies, and darker lyrics. "Music to slash your wrists to", as one black soul remarked. ***
