The Ruins were founded in 2008 as an alternative folk trio. after releasing their first EP, "live and hungover in the black forest", they played numerous shows from zurich to copenhagen. they were honored as band of the week by the music platform restorm.com and got some radio airplay, but while they were just starting to get invited to play many sexy festivals and shows, e-guitarist and co-singer Igor left the band to pursue his own projects in the states.
