The band was founded in 1987/1988 as a typical college band.
Influenced by the early 70's and 80's, the band played a very unconventional style with walls of synth's, synthbase and guitars.
After a many concerts( together with the early Lovebugs and other Basle locals), tapes and a mini-ep, the original band line up split in 1991.
End of 1991 Waveriders was reformed with a new base guitar player and singer. Now the sound was reduced to the max, base, drums and two real guitars...
