Biography
Freestyle Fan Club
Their name is their mission.
The front man is the holder of numerous freestyle bouts as well as four-time champion of “African Battle Cry” South Africa’s National Hip Hop Championships. With microphone in hand Sky 189 a.k.a. Evaron Orange amazes the crowd by proving to them that he can rhyme about anything. With the help of the audience he rhymes about objects, topics and even makes up stories by eliciting various bits of information e.g. names, professions etc. On his CD “One Life” the South African chooses his own topics. You only have one life, don’t waste it, this is the message in his music. He brings a positive message through his lyrics about Reality TV, love and even computer games.
Love is the reason why he now lives in St. Gallen and there is where he also found his accumplist in music.
Behind keyboards, synthesizers and machines lurks Urs Baumgartner a.k.a Kafi-d. This multifaceted musician was an integral part of many unforgettable music projects such as Jazzband Superstecher, Sektion Kuchikäschtli and Trash-Percussionists Bubble Beatz.
With Freestyle Fan Club he pours out his full potential and originality by using self made hardware and software. He is the one-man band behind the lyricist and on the “One Life” CD his beats seem to bridge the gap between old school Hip Hop and Modern eclectronica.
Armed with a self-made midi controller, sampler and effects pedals they unleash their energy to transform sound into hip hop, jazz and even jungle.
Collectively Freestyle Fan Club is more than the sum of their elements.
