Artificial Acoustical Ambience Records begins their 2020 journey with label boss DanSonic back in the spotlight. The Swiss artist enjoyed many successes across 2019, highlighted by the release of his ‘Summer Vibes’ collection in July along with well received remixes for 19Box Recordings and LuPS Records. Now getting the new year underway in fine style, DanSonic returns to his comfortable home of AAAR with ‘Entity’.
Regarded throughout the electronic underground for his versatility, DanSonic flexes that attribute here with a breakbeat inspired collection. Beginning with the rolling funk of ‘2 Funkee’ the Swiss artist marries retro grooves with powerful vocal samples and soulful trumpet motifs. Timely vinyl scratching adds further fuel to the rhythmic fire, capping off this fine, loungey dance floor jam. This segues nicely into the slap bass grooves of ‘46’. Dazzling plucks lay a robust foundation for rolling percussion and melancholic tones to work their magic, before sultry trumpet riffs, organic drums and arpeggiated fragments carry the narrative home. The mood shifts a touch with the lighthearted ‘Calm Down’. Here DanSonic brings the listener into a world of playful rhythms, buoyant bass and free form jazz storyboarding. Rounding out the collection is the lively cadence of the title selection ‘Entity’, elevating mood and energy with it’s near frantic beats and staccato stylings.
