Biography

„Endless the days without you on the beach, here in this distant country. But a dream
germinates in the warm sand, the vision of my new band. “
It is no longer comprehensible, whether the e-mail whichAndré Portmann wrote to his
kindest one from Caribbean realms in spring 2007 contained precisely these words. It is,
however, certain that they created the foundation-stone for the rock band Jackmills from
Interlaken (and buriedAndy's ambitions as a poet).
Andy, an enthusiastic bass player and multiinstrumentalist, had a project in mind which
would have his preferences merged for funk, reggae and rock. He thought of a cooperation
with Julian Steiner, the drummer of the metal band Petrified.
Soon the two came together, but sooner they were weary of the modest instrumentation
and fetched Julis bandmate Peter Meier on board which operated the guitar from this time
on.
First, only instrumental gigs followed under the name of “Timeless in Space“.
The dissolving of Petrified in 2010 provided Juli and Petsch more space to invest in the
new band. Meanwhile they found Chrigi Inäbnit who extended the already diversified
musical pallet very broadly with his hoarse and melodious voice. Musical limits only existed
to be exceeded.
The four were soon ready to scale the stages of the world. Under the name Jackmills they
worked out an excellent reputation as the band in the Bödeli region with the most beautiful
singer, the most precise drummer, nimblest bass player and also with a guitarist which was
finally able to provide real rock music instead of the usual sleepy head dialect stuff.
After numerous concerts like the ones at the Red Bull Base Race, the Open Air Bärgfride
and in front of a full house Chameleon-Session at the house of art in Interlaken, the time
came, in November 2011, to board the Lizi studios in Berne and the Sound Delivery
Service Studio in Interlaken to record their first album. Flooded studios, exploded mixing
desks and long stays abroad only spurred the boys to give more. In June 2013 the debut
EP „Black Coffee” was finally launched and the band will get a large step closer to the
conquest of the Swiss rock throne.
