A band called `Stevans` was formed during 2003 in Geneva. The creator Yvan Franel, author, singer, guitarist and pianist formed a duo with Bruno Tancredi, a bassist. Very quickly the group produced the album `The Reversal EP` of which the single `Monday’s wedding` rapidly brought them to light on the Helvetic stage.
A year later, after responding to an advert, John Chirico joined the band as a drummer and percussionist. Their common influences of each other bought the band more together and they naturally connected in music harmony. The impact of the third member produced the energy that the band was missing and imme- diately audiences were seduced.
Bertrand Siffert, who is also the producer and sound engineer for the Young Gods, directed the first album released by Stevans. The album was released during the autumn of 2006 with the influence of English indie rock bands ranging from Franz Ferdinand to Stereophonics and with some Oasis influence as well. These affiliations are due to no doubt the Anglo-Helvetic culture of Yvan. Three singles titled "Rocky, drunken pervert", "Emotional cash" and most popular of all "Monday's wedding" hit the Swiss radio stations. A national success followed that granted the Stevans to go overseas. During the next couple years, they toured around Europe performing over 200 concerts between Zurich, Reims, Lyon, Paris, Lisbon, Porto, Manchester and London.
As a result, the opportunity arose for them to meet and play as back up group to open concerts for some of the greatest bands such as The Servant, Natalie Imbruglia, Girls in Hawaï, Editors, The Rakes, Infadels, Kaiser Chiefs, Snow Patrol and Rita Mitsouko. This included invites to programmes of numerous festivals such as Paléo in Nyon and NRJ Music Tour at the Arena of Geneva. In 2007, they won the first prize at the trampoline of the Montreux Jazz Festival giving them the chance to play the following year on the Auditorium Stravinsky Hall opening for Deep Purple.
During January 2010, Stevans is getting ready to unleash the band in the universe of European pop-rock with “Fake”. A second album with melodies that are still as effective and with lyrics that are even more on edge between emotions and second-degree humor. An English producer, Will Jackson, who has worked for Kaiser Chiefs and The Pigeon Detectives, supports the musical identity of the trio. He affirmed that Stevans is the most talented group that he has met. Thus the recording was done during spring 2009 in Switzerland at the Dinemec studio that received the prestigious Gold Radio Sony Award for `Viva La Vida Tour` with Coldplay as the best live recording in 2008.
The international potential of the group is now establishing itself, carried by the first single “Vodka Redgirls”, already programmed on several radios. The video released by Brillantine prods has already been viewed numerous times on the net and meets a great feedback, thanks to the original ideas of the directors.
