The band and the voice form a solid unit that brings the song to the fore every second that they are playing together. Stilltone flirt with the influences of the last forty years of rock history. You can sense the pathos and urgency of the grunge era, the direct rock of the late Sixties, trip-hop melancholy, a soupcon of punk spiced up with a hint of Eighties' rock. All these influences have grown into something that is both new and unique: Stilltone!

The sound of Stilltone is dominated by guitars, sometimes discreetly playful, sometimes broad-based and strong, sometimes shrill and distorted. The guitars are wonderfully complemented by the keyboard sounds, which particularly work themselves into the foreground during quiet passages. Stilltone are constantly being driven forward by their straight and rolling rhythm section. On top of all this there is the outstanding and unmistakeable voice of the band's singer, Sascha, which always manages to lend the songs the right atmosphere.

The album "13 States of Mind" has a cheery, gentle and yet melancholy feel to it. The 13 cleverly-arranged songs on the album "13 States of Mind" show Stilltone are perfectly adept at setting the different emotions to music. Stilltone construct tensions that culminate in true rock storms, let them collapse suddenly, build them up anew and drive the song even further. The 13 songs irresistibly draw the listener into their spell.

The songs were recorded "live" in the studio. This live energy can be found throughout the entire album. As a result, situations arose during recording that gave the fully-developed songs an extra authenticity, be it a deeply moving rendition of a vocal section (e.g. in "The Game") or an impressive finish that threatens to explode (e.g. "Twilight"). The tension and dynamism of the 13 songs are impressive and upheld from the first bar of the opener, "When I Look in the Mirror" to the final note of "Desert View". The title of the album – "13 States of Mind" – perfectly summarises the 13 songs, for the album has a fascinating way of putting the listener in the 13 different moods.

The long-awaited debut album "13 States of Mind" was officially released on 13 October 2006. The emotions Stilltone conjure up with their songs are amazing, rousing and fascinating – all at the same time.
