JAMESCLEAN.IS a DJ
It was in 2011 when James Clean left his home studio to step onto a proper stage for the very first time as a DJ – a major step considering his gig: a six hour-long set at ‘Härterei’ in front of 1500 thrilled party guests. For financial reasons, the organisers passed on booking additional warm-up or closing DJs, which led to the massive six hour set for James Clean. In that very moment, the psychology student realized that this night would heavily affect his future. Subsequently, he co-launched his own party label called ‘Inkognito’ – also at Härterei. ‘Inkognito’ (called ‘Spring-Break’ in the summer-semester) was then to become the biggest student party in Zurich with James Clean as their main musical attraction. On every night for the following three years, when ‘Inkognito’ Productions’ hosted at Härterei, the location was thoroughly sold out and filled with an electrifying atmosphere. This commitment earned him great respect from all involved parties.
After many further bookings (i.e. Blok, X-tra, Kaufleuten), James Clean started 2011 his second party label ‘HOUSEarrest’ at Revier, a smaller, more central, and trendier club. That is where up until now, at the end of every month, James Clean and many other local DJs share the mixer to play the best and most loved House tunes for their loyal crowd. Since fall 2013, James Clean is also headliner of a party called ‘Let the Bird Fly’, which is held once a month at Revier, too. Once the spark leaps over, there is certainly no better activity or feeling for him than to play his favourite songs in front of an enthusiastic crowd.
JAMESCLEAN.IS a PRODUCER
He gained his first experiences in production in the movie industry. For SAE studios in Germany as well as for ‘Tourismus Zürich’, he was in charge of the sound’s production and design. No day goes by on which James Clean does not sit in his personal studio working on new sounds and tracks. Even though most of his biggest icons come from the north, James Clean’s Sound cannot simply be labelled as it combines many different influences – from Electro-House over Progressive-House to Tech-House.
As soon as a song captures the groove and makes the crowd go nuts, it is on James Clean’s radar. This change in tune is always very distinct in his sets. Thereby, he always manages to captivate a highly heterogeneous audience.
