Biography
Where wealth and prescriptive codes of behaviour go hand in hand, where trimmed gardens cling to one-family houses, youthful dreams of experiencing adventure and breaking norms find an utterly unconducive ground to grow in. The fact that exactly here such a marvellous blossom as Venetus Flos flourishes is neither luck nor coincidence. Venetus Flos is the consequence of relentless reflection on existence and the resulting autonomous interpretation.
In 2009, Julien and Olivier Zeno together with their neighbour Jan Aebersold found the band Venetus Flos (Blue Flower). Driven by an urge for ecstasy and the relief from daily routine, the trio is oriented towards the sounds of the wide world, which are only geographically from far afield.
Whereas Venetus Flos’ first shows are set at school-parties around the corner, in 2010, they answer the call of Switzerland’s prestigious stages. With a smart fusion of acoustic and electronic elements, as well as their energetic live performances, they soon manage to attract the attention of the Swiss music scene. Engagements follow as opening acts of nationally and internationally renowned bands.
In autumn 2010 the band decides to capture their scenic energy in the studio, and collaborate with producer Bruce Kloeti at the Popakademie studios in Mannheim. With their Debut-EP “Bound For Glory” they state impressively to whom the future belongs. In spite of their big gestures, the band stays very fragile and vulnerable; this can be credited to the pleasantly contrasting lyrics.
Venetus Flos is Julien Zeno (Vocals, Synthesizer, Guitar), Jan Aebersold (Bass, Synthesizer, Vocals) and Olivier Zeno (Guitar, Synthesizer, Vocals).
