Contemplation, silence and relaxation. The möf project is a synthesis of atmospheric sounds and drones elicited from the clarinet, focusing on the consciousness of the present moment, on the here and now.
The music is a constant counterpoint to the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Listeners to möf's third album, ‘A Terrain’, should find above all peace and quiet and the opportunity for self-reflection. The communication of this calm and introspective music began with the two albums ‘The Good Thing About Bad Sleep Is’ (2023) and ‘The Bad Thing About Good Sleep Is’ (2024).
With new forms, more consistent ideas and more patience (according to the musician himself), two harmonically motivated melody sequences form the basis of ‘A Terrain’. The motifs grow and transform, taking individual, aesthetic paths across eight pieces. In doing so, they can also appear as uncomplicated fragments, weaving themselves into a diverse listening experience with vibrant frequencies.
By repeating the tempo, form or melody, the pieces create a relationship between themselves and thus a form of recognizability. Convinced that we and the world around us are nothing more than vibrations, the two harmonies connect with listeners. Calm and insistent, they give us strength and bring us into tune with our environment and our coexistence: a coexistence that offers the possibility of engaging in dialogue and transmitting a relational process.
The album title, ‘A Terrain’, is an invitation to move freely across this terrain, to familiarize oneself with the acoustic relief and soundscapes – to feel at ease there. At its heart, ‘A Terrain’ is an invitation to active listening.
«I don't expect anyone to listen to my music, and it really warms my heart when they do.» (Fabian Mösch, möf).
The album ‘A Terrain’ will be released on 17 October 2025 by Irascible Records.
