With his new melancholic song «How Have You Been?», Swiss songwriter Silver Birch aka Patrick Lerjen releases a first single to his upcoming third album. Patrick tells the familiar story of bumping into an old friend who’s become an old stranger. It’s a bittersweet take on our live choices and how we often can’t help drifting apart over the years.

Patrick: „The instrumental idea to «How Have You Been?» had been with me for over a decade and last summer I finally found a vocal-melody to go with, that I was inspired by. Then, some night, I couldn’t sleep and was hunted by flashbacks of a weird encounter with an old friend, and so i laid down the basic idea for the lyrics. Soon afterwards my pals Tobi and Flo and i set up in our one-room-studio and recorded drums, bass-synth & guitar at the same time. Later on we added acoustic piano and ended up using the pilot-vocals. voila, a song that i’m very fond of. I hope you enjoy it.“

Back in in 2021, after years as a guitarist & producer, Patrick Lerjen caught us by surprise with his singing-debut «Yourself», a fetching, gentle folk song. Since then, Silver Birch released 2 albums and played lots of concerts, always leaving behind an inspired audience. The song «The Simple Life» even found its way into a Netflix series called «Warrior Nun».
